Given the currently popular on the internet negative reports about the Grandmaster Shi Yongxin, Abbot of the Songshan Shaolin Temple, the Shaolin Europe Association (SEA) e.V. does hereby on behalf of all European member organizations following opinion known:
Many claims about the Abbot Shi Yongxin are fictitious of persons with malicious intent. Abbot Shi Yongxin with the delegation of the Songshan Shaolin Monastery has visited numerous European countries to bring authentic Shaolin Culture to Europe and to help the people in western countries. Therefore he is very popular by enthusiasts for Shaolin.
Without his personal activity would be the traditional Chinese Culture and the Shaolin Culture, whose representative, not recognized and established of the mainstream of European countries.
The Shaolin Europe Association (SEA) e.V. hopes that the competent authority in China can produce a fair investigation result about Abbot Shi Yongxin, so that the further development of Shaolin Culture in Europe is positively promoted.
The Songshan Shaolin Temple in China is the holy origin of Chan (Zen) -Buddhismus. It has a fixed internal structure and firm rules of Buddhism and its own tradition. To found an offshoot of the Shaolin Temple must fulfil certain preconditions. It must be permitted by S. H. Venerable Grand Master Shi Yongxin, abbot of the Shaolin Temple China with a written approval. The abbot of a branch temple can only be appointed by the abbot of the Shaolin Temple China. Without permission of the abbot of the Shaolin Temple China is any use of the name "Shaolin Temple" illegal.
The so-called "Shaolin Temple Europe" in Otterberg and "Shaolin Temple Kaiserslautern" in Kaiserslautern e.g. are both self-appointed temple. They have nothing to do with the Shaolin Temple China. They have also no Shaolin monk.
The only offshoot of the Shaolin Temple China in Germany is the Shaolin Temple Germany in Berlin since 2001.
